November 10th, 2016
Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) runs from November 14 to 20 this year. As a leading provider of serviced offices for rent, Basepoint has taken a key role in hosting events for this festival of entrepreneurship over recent years. We are a Top GEW Partner and also earned a High Impact Award Host badge in recognition of our involvement during 2015.
As an organisation which supports small businesses and start-ups, Basepoint is keen to promote entrepreneurship and to help ensure that new ventures have all the support they need to be successful. Every one of our business centres will be holding special networking hub events to support the week, while some Basepoint locations are set to stage multiple events.
What Is Global Entrepreneurship Week?
The aim of GEW is to celebrate the role of entrepreneurs and make more people aware of entrepreneurship, encouraging them to explore the potential of their own business ideas. Inspiring young people, who are the business innovators of the future, is a key element, but existing and potential business people of all ages can get involved in the wide-ranging programme of events.
Since the global week was first staged in November 2008, following on from UK and US enterprise weeks, it has grown and spread to many parts of the world. People from 162 countries now take part in the annual celebration. In the UK alone, more than 2,500 events are staged all over the country each year.
Basepoint Events
A wide range of events are being held at Basepoint centres over the week, including:
Bournemouth: The centre is set to stage workshops, presentations and discussions running from Monday through to Thursday, with a number of local businesses getting involved. To start the week off, on Monday there will be a round-table discussion looking at the General Data Protection Regulations, which will be coming into force in 2018. Other topics to be covered during the week include intellectual property laws and future developments in the digital revolution, while there will also be a range of workshops and a chance to discuss business and online issues at “acceleration clinics”.
Crawley: A half-day workshop is being held on Tuesday, looking at how to develop an effective bespoke plan for marketing your business. Advance booking is essential for this workshop, which will look at topics such as how to define your unique selling points and how to learn from your competition.
Gosport: A range of networking events, seminars and workshops will be held in venues around Gosport over the week, culminating with an Enterprise Fair. Basepoint is to host a seminar and local networking event on Wednesday, offering business people the chance to “meet their local experts”.
Luton: Basepoint will be staging a business expo on Wednesday, with free stands available to book. The event will include a speech on “mental boxing” by a personal performance coach, as well as a speed networking session and a workshop on student internships. Then on Saturday there will be a workshop on search engine optimisation (SEO).
All our other centres, including those in Camberley, Evesham, Ipswich and Southampton, are also holding networking sessions, workshops and other events, many with complimentary lunches for those attending.
Being a partner with Global Entrepreneurship Week is part of Basepoint’s commitment to helping and working with entrepreneurs all through the year, through our network of serviced offices for rent, as well as by offering a virtual office service.
